My Areas of Practice
Although it is not one of my specialties, I have represented, either solely or as co-counsel, a respectable number of clients in civil matters in Maine's District and Superior courts. These cases have included forcible entry and detainer (eviction) proceedings, protection from harassment or abuse hearings, declaratory judgment actions to resolve real estate ownership disputes, and claims under theories of tort (personal injury), breach of contract, unjust enrichment, the Unfair Trade Practices Act, and other state statutes. For a reasonably-priced retainer, I may be able to represent you, too.
I am a dedicated and experienced legal counsel for accused criminals in Maine. Read about my criminal defense practice.
I have helped many entrepreneurs organize business entities (corporation, limited liability company, or limited liability partnership), acquire assets from other businesses, file critical documents with state and federal government agencies, and manage internal issues. I have put my writing skills to use on operating agreements, purchase agreements, customer contract templates, customer liability releases, and corporate resolutions. For new business owners I provide advice on concerns like entity selection, tax treatment, bookkeeping, segregation of assets, insurance, succession plans, and managerial structure. If you are getting started, I can help you avoid problems down the road.
